Drug Prevention Coalition (KWC)

The Drug Prevention Coalition (DPC) at the Ketchikan Wellness Coalition (KWC) is dedicated to preventing substance misuse and providing essential resources. Through evidence-based programs, the coalition focuses on prevention, education, and support, striving to create a healthier and more informed community. Additionally, they prioritize youth engagement and aim to reduce the stigma surrounding substance use, fostering an environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking help and discussing their struggles openly.

Programs/Services

  • Youth Engagement: Empowering young people to support their peers in living substance-free lives through education, leadership, and mentorship. They support organizations like Ketchikan Youth for Change.
  • Education: Partnering with the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District to implement substance misuse education in schools.
  • Community Outreach: Providing resources, tools, and support to the community on substance misuse prevention.
  • Narcan Training: Offering training and providing naloxone kits to help reduce opioid-related deaths.
